Occasionally, when upgrading Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro using a legitimate key you’ll get the follow message:

We can’t activate Windows because you don’t have a valid digital license or product key. Error 0x803fa067

If you’ve confirmed your key is correct, and legitimate and should work here’s a solution you should try to get around this bug:

  1. Locate the Windows 10 Generic/Default license key online. These are Keys from Microsoft that allow you to install a specific version of Windows 10 without actually activating it. You’ll need the specific one for your version, if Home, Pro or Enterprise.
  2. Disconnect your Internet.
  3. Activate using the Generic/Default license key, this will fail bit this is expected.
  4. Reconnect the internet.
  5. Activate with the correct key.

We’ve observed this issue on Windows 10 1909 but it may be present on other versions too.
