If you’re one of the millions of people that hasn’t yet begun working from home or joining into heaps of video conference calls – the first few times might seem a bit scary.
Its not too difficult, but the first time you use any new program – you need to get used to the nuances of it to ensure its seamless operation – not to mention, avoid an embarrassing moment or two!
During the recent months providing onsite IT Support in Melbourne quickly transitioning to remote work – we’ve seen a lot of nervous people.
Here is a quick checklist of the things that you might want to do prior in a Zoom Test Meeting.
- Check your video camera is working, aimed at the right angle and direction and everything looks professional. Otherwise, make sure you choose a virtual background!
- Test the microphone. Nothing worse than not being able to hear someone, have an echo or the infamous “lawn mower” sound.
- Make sure your speakers work and you can hear without the microphone picking it up.
- Make sure your Home Internet and WiFi performance is solid to avoid disruptions or dropouts.
Its always best to use a headset wherever possible. Most modern computers that have a 3.5mm headphone jack can be used for both the microphone and headphone on a call if you have a set of Apple or Samsung (or similar) headphones. Otherwise, make sure you get a good headset. There are lots of different types to choose from, with a few available on the Qamba Store.
